Learning Through Play 2015! Happy New Year Everybody!!

In 2015 there were so many moments that it became crystal clear,

That i’d definitely made the right decision working in the early years!

The children surprise and amaze me each and every day,

And my nursery team support them to learn throughout their play,

The children’s genuine interest never falters,

Their desire to learn and play never alters!

They can be given a box, a simple piece of card,

And with a sprinkle of imagination you’ve got a work of art!

Their genuine enthusiasm for each and every day,

Is totally infectious and it gets me through the day!

Play dough isn’t just play dough, it’s anything they want it to be,

We’ve added everything to the mixture this year… Even broccoli!

They’ve gone on hunts for not only a bear, but for colours, shapes and bugs,

And when they found a snail one day they popped him in a jug!

They named him Steve and put him on some paper and waited patiently,

They observed and drew him for ages, he turned in to quite a celebrity,

And when he came out of his shell you should of heard their cries of glee!

Their amazing art work is all around the nursery for everyone to behold,

They’ve transformed the sensory room  in to an underwater world!

They’ve planted pansies in the garden and some sunflowers too,

They’ve cared for them and watered them, and measured them as they grew!

They’ve worked collaboratively and shared ideas and created their own books,

They’ve built some unbelievable structures with simple wooden blocks!

To be honest I could go on and on about the learning filled fun I’ve seen,

But instead I’ll leave you all looking forward to an amazing 2016!
